Hotel Cenobio dei Dogi

16132 Camogli
Portofino Coast
Tel:  0185.7241

Easy to find.

The hotel website www.cenobio.it is a good one, with lots of pix that take about as long to download as this page.

Again, a pool at ocean temperature, this time even filled with sea water.  But, oh, the views, and a fine restaurant.   The staff are also great.

Upper left - Kaye on a plaza balcony; on the right, the view from our balcony; below left, our room; below right, Kaye huddling seaside at the pool (in the background is our room on the top floor with one of the two doors open).  In 2000 this was our most expensive night outside Rome, about $260, but it was truly a luxury stay.  We'll go again, as we will to Cala Piccola, but we'll stay more than one night with those great views of the Mediterranean.  (In May of 2008 the suite will run you $465 in May and September, $600 in between; standard rooms with ocean view are about 30% less.)

SHOPPING

You don't go here to shop.  You go here to chill (esp. if you try the pool).  [Warning:  the bar on the lower level has large windows that look directly into the pool.]
