Easy to find.

Looking south from our balcony.

Looking north, later, as a hail and rain storm swept in.  The boat is the local ferry.  We were just crashing our last 3 days in Italy (and it was a great place for that), so we didn't rent a boat and go out, but we will next time.

Our room, with two doors and "sittable" balcony.  It was large and comfortable, and about $160 a night (2000).  2008 Note:  According to the hotel's website, in high season, the highest price Superior double room is $345 a night - still a fantastic bargain, given the decline of our current administration.

If anyone in your party doesn't think this is a romantic place for lunch, sell, divorce, or abandon him/her.  The food in the hotel was acceptable, each dish worthwhile, although the menu remained the same.  (In about a week you'll run through all the stuff you like, but it's not far to Lugano and other Italian or Swiss towns.)  The wait staff was friendly and English speaking.  We will go back.

SHOPPING
Perhaps the best in Italy

Kaye is pretending to enjoy herself in the shot above, but she's chafing because just 30 minutes away is Fox Town, an outlet mall for Versace, Prada, Bally, Gucci, Ferragamo, Fendi, and on and on and on.  Really worth the trip.  The best shopping we found in Italy, and a good place to finish your trip, since we had to buy a very large suitcase to haul all the loot home.

For a reasonable map that will help you find it on your map, go to:
